Pedro Simões Coelho - Synopsis

The research presented here is two-fold.

The first contribution was devoted to disseminating key figures necessary for different publics to take informed decisions. Covid-19 Insights was a portal dedicated to sharing information and insights of how the pandemic was evolving. Six areas were covered: international and national evolution, pandemic impact on employment, spatial risk analysis, mobility data and the evolvement and forecast of the main epidemiological curves.

The second area regards diverse scientific contributions including (1) using public information to study the prevalence and impact of vaccines; (2) quantifying and analysing excess mortality for policymaking; (3) exploring the associations between sex, age and hospital health care pressure; (4) understanding how airline companies addressed cancellations and customer satisfaction during the pandemic; (5) rethinking the university campus experience in the post-pandemic world; (6) assessing how the pandemic catalyst role pushed forward digital transformation in the hospitality industry; (9) profiling world countries according to pandemic time dynamics (10) designing new methodologies to obtain helpful insight on the planning of the health response to avoid implosion of health systems.
